Six months after floods swept through Ohio County, signs of progress are visible, but the recovery is far from complete.

Homes have been repaired and streets cleared, yet officials emphasize the shift from emergency response to long-term rebuilding. Efforts now focus on helping residents replace appliances and navigate disaster assistance.

"The United Way partnered with some other local organizations, including the Community Foundation, to create a long-term disaster recovery group," said Susie Nelson, executive director of the Community Foundation Ohio Valley. "And that group started out meeting weekly, particularly with a focus on unmet needs of flood survivors."
