DJINN-GHUL is a hard band to nail down. With their style drifting between different death metal subgenres and experimenting with new sounds all together, they somehow manage to always make it work. I think it's best to let the band speak for themselves, "Divided between Venezuela and the United States, DJINN-GHÜL was formed by Grant Nachbur and Junior Patiño in 2017, when both wanted to manufacture an oddity death-metal project with the purpose of conceiving an extreme and unconventional sound, while dissolving all expectations of the sub-genre."
I feel they have definitely achieved their goal with Mechalith. The EP churns with ridiculously downtuned guitars and a whole range of different growls and squeals. This is tied together with dark, bubbling synths reminiscent of Mick Gordon's DOOM soundtrack. The production is extremely clean and sharp. If this ever gets a physical release I would be first in line to buy it. I think this band has an extremely bright future ahead of them if they continue with releases of this caliber.
