Tengai Makyou ZIRIA (PC Engine) Early Prototype Footage from 1988 天外魔境ZIRIA 開発初期映像

Some footage shown in 1988 to promote Hudson Soft and RED Company's Tengai Makyou/Far East of Eden ZIRIA, the world's first RPG on CD-ROM.

This preview is from the September 1988 edition of Game Tech Video (GTV #8), a Japanese video magazine in the late 80s. The game's title screen, music and audio, looks of the overworld and towns, battle animations and gameplay...all of these things would end up being completely different in the final game, which was released in June, 1989, just a little over a half a year after the GTV tape was published.

The game's overall style and look famously went through several iterations during development, the footage here belonging to the second version, I believe.
