What does #Psilocybin-Assisted #PsychedelicTherapy look like when clients enter the clinic on #Antidepressant medication? Common practice suggests stopping SSRIs and other prescription drugs before they can safely take psilocybin, but neither anecdotal evidence nor scientific literature supports this. Researchers and practitioners are eager to find effective, evidence-based treatments to assist people with anxiety, #Depression, and other disorders requiring pharmaceutical intervention.

On May 13th, 2022, Psychedelic Support hosted this conversation with integrative mental health professional and psychedelic facilitator Dr. Erica Zelfand. We explored the interplay between antidepressant medications and psilocybin, reviewed their pharmacology, and considered new research on how clinicians can utilize modern #PsychedelicScience.

Dr. Erica Zelfand is a licensed family doctor, ketamine provider, and psychedelic facilitator. She specializes in functional medicine and integrative mental health, incorporating pharmaceutical, nutritional, botanical, somatic, and psychedelic approaches to healing. She also teaches psychedelic facilitation worldwide and is a medical writer, globetrotter, and initiator of group hugs.
