Soils Tell Stories | Angela Bedard-Haughn | TEDxUniversityofSaskatchewan

Описание к видео Soils Tell Stories | Angela Bedard-Haughn | TEDxUniversityofSaskatchewan

Every soil tells a story: a story about its past, from ancient inland seas to modern agricultural practices; a story about its present, including how well it can provide ecosystem services; and a story about its future, how resilient it will be in the challenges that lie ahead. What can we learn from these stories? Angela Bedard-Haughn grew up in rural Saskatchewan. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Geography and a Master’s degree in Soil Science at the University of Saskatchewan before moving to the University of California at Davis for her doctoral studies.

In 2006, she returned to the U of S to join the Soil Science Department as a faculty member. Her research focuses on applied pedology: examining how soil properties affect – and are affected by – land use and climate change, with an emphasis on wetland soils, digital soil mapping, and soil information management. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
