This is the lineup of film scanners from Magnasonic. At Magnasonic, we have a film scanner for everybody, and in this video, we will help you figure out which one is right for you.

If you are looking for something to create video from Super 8 or 8mm reels, then the choice is easy. You will want the FS81. The FS81 scans 3, 5, and 7 inch reels of Super 8 and 8mm film, and then creates MP4 video files. It does not scan photo negatives or slides, and does not scan 16mm film. You can view the footage as it scans on the LCD screen, with a TV using the TV out, or by inserting the SD card into your computer.

If you are looking to scan photos, then there are are a number of great choices.

Let's start with the FS50, FS51, and FS52. These film scanners look the similair from the outside, but there are a few slight differences. All have colour LCD screens, produce 22 megapixel files, have slots for SD card. As well, they can all scan 35mm film, 126 film, 110 film, and 135 slides.

Starting with the FS51, it scans 35mm, 110 and 126 negatives, as well as 35mm slides.

The FS50 adds the ability to scan 110 and 126 slides, as well as Super 8 film. When scanning Super 8 film with the FS50, you will be able to scan photos from the film only. It will not create video files. For that, you want the FS81.

The FS52 will scan everything that the FS50 can, as well as 8mm film. Like the FS50, it will scan photos of movie film only. For video files, you want the FS81.

When we move up to the FS560, things start to look a little different. The FS60 has the ability to scan both film, slides, as well as printed photos, in 14mp resolution. By taking off the bottom and placing a photo in the tray, you can make digital copies of prints. You can even set it on albums and scan right from an album. The FS60 does not have built-in storage, but it does come with a SD card that can hold up to 900 images. The FS60 can scan 35mm, 126, and 110 film, 135 slides, and photos up to 4x6".

When you open the FS71, you will notice the nice, big LCD screen. It's 5" big and can produce 22 megapixel images. It can scan 35mm, 126, and 110 film, 135, 126 and 110 slides, and still photos from Super 8 film.

All of these scanners, except for the FS60, give you the ability to view photos on your television, using the TV out. The FS71 has an HDMI, while the rest have a 3.5mm output.

What all of these scanners have in common is the ability to edit the brightness, and colour of the photos, right on the device itself. No computer necessary.

So which one is right for you?

If you are looking to create video files from Super 8 or 8mm film, the FS81 will create easily shareable and archivable MP4 files.

If you want to scan photo prints, try FS60.

If you prefer a large screen, try the FS71. It's 5" LCD screen will show your photos in great detail.

If you prefer something a bit more compact, try the FS50, FS51 or FS52.
