We have seen attacks on and military use of educational facilities increase in recent years. In addition to death, injury, and damage, these attacks disrupt learning and destroy opportunities, with long-term consequences for children and communities. During this webinar,
GCPEA highlighted findings from the Education under Attack report, including on the prevalence of the use of explosive weapons, as well as the unique impacts attacks on education have on female students and students with disabilities.
The ICRC discussed the specific ways it works to protect and ensure safe access to education during conflict, including promoting the provisions of International Humanitarian Law that protect education.
The Alliance gave an overview of the collaboration with INEE to bring the child protection and education sectors closer together, and how they can jointly address the humanitarian consequences of conflict.
