Dr. Lori Handy explains that certain groups of adults may benefit from a polio booster even if they were vaccinated as children. These include healthcare workers or caregivers of individuals with an active polio infection, individuals who work in laboratories with poliovirus, people traveling to areas of the world where there's ongoing polio infections, and individuals who are part of a polio outbreak.
