Roger Meyer on Jujube - Cultivation and Varieties

Rogers talks about various jujube cultivation basics. When to dig out root suckers and grafting them. Care required during the spring and summer season. And when to harvest. He discusses some of the varieties that he grows and gets into the intricacies of each variety.

Speaker Bio:
Roger and his wife, Shirley, began their farm in Valley Center in 1975 with kiwifruit and avocados. Water restrictions in the early 1990's made it impossible for growers to continue with kiwifruit. So they began growing jujube as just another unusual fruit on the farm, it was their lower water usage and high appeal with the Asian communities that made the decision to switch to jujube. Roger taught himself to graft the trees to make all of his cultivars available. He later went on to co-author the Jujube Book, devoted to growing jujube.
