Welcome, Heroes! In this video, I’m sharing my incredible experience at GenCon 2024, where I had the chance to dive deep into the exciting return of HeroScape. For those who don’t know, HeroScape is a fantastic tabletop game originally produced by Hasbro from 2004 to 2010. Despite its short production run, the game has maintained a loyal fanbase, and I’ve recently joined the community myself, playing with my six-year-old son and loving every moment of it.
This year, HeroScape made a triumphant return to GenCon thanks to Renegade Game Studios, and I just had to be there to witness it. The moment I arrived in Indiana, the GenCon buzz was palpable, starting with a huge HeroScape banner greeting attendees at the airport. Inside the convention center, Renegade went all out with their promotion of HeroScape’s comeback, featuring massive statues of characters like Raylin and Lovietek and impressive displays of the game’s iconic terrain and figures.
At the Renegade booth, fans could see new storylines and character designs, including some sneak peeks of upcoming releases for 2025 and 2026. It was thrilling to see the future plans for HeroScape, especially new designs like the crustacean crabs and other exciting figures. Renegade’s commitment to the game’s revival was clear, and the energy at the booth was incredible. The HeroScape community is truly special, and everyone was thrilled to see the game coming back in such a big way.
One of the highlights of GenCon was participating in the HeroScape tournaments. Each day brought a different event, and I had a blast competing. From the "cheese game" on day one, where I went 4-0 with my Grimneck and Heavy Gruts, to the "uniques only" battle on day two and the epic AOA-only event on day three, the competitions were intense and full of camaraderie. The tournaments culminated in a massive championship on Saturday, where I finished ninth, just missing the top eight cut. The prizes were fantastic, with Renegade giving away master sets, battle boxes, and even original painted figures throughout the events.
It wasn’t just about the competition, though. The community spirit was strong, with new players learning the game and veterans sharing their strategies. The excitement around HeroScape’s return was contagious, and it was amazing to see so many people passionate about the game. Renegade’s vision for HeroScape’s future is ambitious, and I’m thrilled to see where it goes. The return of organized play, new expansions, and fresh designs are sure to bring even more players into the fold, and I can’t wait to see how the game evolves.
Overall, GenCon 2024 was an unforgettable experience. Being part of HeroScape’s comeback, meeting the Renegade team, and connecting with so many enthusiastic fans made it a convention to remember. If you’re a fan of HeroScape or just curious about the game, now is the perfect time to get involved. Thanks for watching, and stay tuned for more HeroScape content coming soon!
