BTS - "흥탄소년단" (Boyz with Fun) from Bang Bang Con The Live 2020 [ENG SUB] [Full HD]

💜 This is a really fun song especially if you can speak Korean because of all the wordplay. One of my sources for the translation says: "...these lyrics sound lame in English. Because of the extreme difference in language structure, the kind of wordplay in this song just doesn’t come over to English." The Korean title is 흥탄소년단 (Heungtan Sonyeondan), which is a just letter different from their name, 방탄소년단 (Bangtan Sonyeondan). 흥 (heung) can be translated as fun, excitement, joy, or groove, and is often associated with someone who’s very upbeat, rhythmic beats, or groovy dance moves. There are performances that are flooded with 흥 (there is a 흥 version of Baepsae (Silver Spoon) dance practice), people with lots of 흥, an atmosphere that makes your 흥 rise, and so on. 탄 (tan) in this context is the adjective of 타다, which means “to ride or get on”. So 흥탄소년단 means the boys (소년단) who are riding (탄) the fun (흥).
