A Tour of Everest Base Camp 2022

Check out Climbing the Seven Summits Everest Base Camp!

We're proud to have the best camp on Everest and to continually be redefining the experience.

We believe (& invest heavily) in a 'marginal gains' philosophy. The idea is that by capitalising on every little hidden advantage, 1% here, 1% there, gains quickly compound into a huge overall improvement.

CTSS prides itself on this kind of innovation. We optimise both the big details like staffing, oxygen systems, weather forecasting, camp hygiene all the way through to the tiny comfort details.

People may dismiss these little luxuries as ‘soft’ but in fact we invest in them because they are highly strategic.

For instance having added height in your tent isn’t about the ‘luxe’ factor, it’s so you can stand up and put your harness on in your tent so you don’t twist an ankle. The 6inch mattress isn’t just about a pillowy sleep, it’s to keep your body further off the cold ice ground so you don’t expend precious energy keeping your body warm, while at rest.

We’re happy to go the extra mile because we've seen firsthand that on Everest, being such a long expedition, it is the well rested, well fed, happy and healthy climbers that are the most successful climbers.

We want to help you feel your best, so you can focus on climbing at your best.

A few fun facts about CTSS' Everest Base Camp:
Every year this camp is assembled and fully dissembled leaving only footprints and taking only photographs (everything, including human waste is removed)
Camp is powered with a massive solar array system
CTSS employs over 400x local Nepali staff every year from chefs to climbing Sherpa to baristas!
Base Camp is not actually flat or on terra firma - it's on ice which means it's constantly in motion (very slow motion) and is maintained throughout the season
