So, we have learned more about "Johnny Cash" this 1940 Chevy Truck with a 1940 Dodge truck grill on a 1993 Cummins D350 chassis. After servicing everything in the last video, I decided to swap the rear end for one with a posi unit since we had it in the parts truck. The truck currently has a GM 14 bolt dually rear someone swapped into it. We have a 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 with a Posi Dana 80 rear that came from the factory with a 4.10 gear ratio. At some point that was swapped out for a 3.54 ratio and a nice cover was added. I'd prefer the 4.10 but beggars can't be choosers. The leaf springs were different, so we had to swap the housing only and get some new u bolts. I'll have to build some shock mounts. We also had to cut and shorten the driveshaft 2.5" inches and change the rear u joint. I made a couple new rear brake lines to replace one that was smashed flat and the other that was corroded to the point it rust welded to the fitting. We got a few other things done on the truck as well, these first gen Cummins trucks used the computer to regulator the voltage the alternator puts out. Since the computer is gone, I ordered a $20 dollar kit off of amazon to rewire the alternator internally and it now self regulates.

Well, yall just what we needed... another project. But this one was a good deal I promise. Just like the last one was. I actually bought this truck from a really good friend of mine. He bought it from another fella, who bought it from the folks that were building it and from what I can tell it's been sitting outside since then. I had to go to Childersburg, Alabama to pick the truck and parts up. Gonna try and get it running and driving and figure out more about the truck.

The paperwork on the truck is from Indiana and calls it a 1940 Chevy truck. I believe the grill and fenders are a 1940 to maybe a 1947 Dodge truck. The chassis is a 1993 Dodge D350 5.9 liter 12 valve cummins. Its an automatic and its 2wd dually. Someone suicided the doors on the cab, its got a tilt steering column and a B&M ratchet shifter.
