বেদে কন্যার কষ্টের কথা। শ্রীপুর গাজীপুর। গাজীপুর জেলা শ্রীপুর জনপদে বরমি ইউনিয়নের বরামা গ্রামে শীতলক্ষ্যা নদীর উপকূলে বেদে সম্প্রদায়ের অস্থায়ী পল্লীতে বেদে সম্প্রদায়ের বসবাস। বর্তমান সময়ে মেয়েদের সম্প্রদায়কে নৌকায় আর বসবাস করতে দেখা যায় না। শিক্ষা ও স্বাস্থ্যসেবা থেকে বেদে সম্প্রদায় সব সময় বঞ্চিত হয়ে থাকেন।কেননা তারা কখনোই এক স্থানে এক থেকে দুই মাসের বেশি বসবাস করে না। এদের মধ্যে একাধিক বিবাহ পরিলক্ষিত হয়ে থাকে। বেদে সম্প্রদায়ের পরিবারে সন্তানের সংখ্যা পাঁচ থেকে সাতজনের বেশি হয়ে থাকে। বাংলাদেশ ভারত তথা পাকিস্তানে এদের উপস্থিতি লক্ষ্য করা যায়। বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন অঞ্চলে এরা বসতি গেড়ে অস্থায়ীভাবে বসবাস করে থাকেন। নারী-পুরুষ উভয় মিলে সংসারের কাজ করে থাকেন। সাপ ধরা সাপের খেলা দেখানো পাখি শিকার সিঙ্গা লাগানো সহ বিভিন্ন ধরনের কর্মকান্ডের সাথে বেদে সম্প্রদায় জড়িত থাকেন।

The Bede community lives in the temporary village of the Bede community on the banks of Shitalakshya river in Barama village of Barami union in Sreepur township of Gazipur district. Nowadays, the community of girls is no longer seen living in boats. The Vedic community is always deprived of education and health care because they never stay in one place for more than one to two months. Among them, multiple marriages are observed. The number of children in the families of the Bede community is more than five to seven. Their presence can be seen in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. They settle and live temporarily in different regions of Bangladesh. Both men and women do household work together. The Vedic community engages in a variety of activities including snake catching, snake playing, bird hunting, horn planting.
