Record a microphone over an Analog In and transfer WAV file via HTTP and then play it in a SCADA server
In this presentation, a Microphone is attached to an analog input of a PLC which is integrated in a Baumueller Drive. The PLC program records the audio stream and generates a wav file which is then stored in the drive. It sets a flag which is read by the SpiderControl SCADA server that runs on a remote PC. Inside the SCADA server runs the SpiderPLC, which provides an extensive library to integrate IT functions in an automation framework. This flag thus triggers a functional block which transfers the wav file from the drive via an HTTP Get call to the SCADA server, and then calls the off-the-shelve VLC app to play the sound on the speaker.
This showcase is a cooperation between Baumüller and iniNet and illustrates how easy it is to integrate jobs that are non typical to regular automation tasks on a drive plc and then involve external IT SW to handle the recorded data. In a real world application, such a setup could also be used to analyze machine vibrations and noise by an AI model.
