Mark Leckey: My breakthrough story

Описание к видео Mark Leckey: My breakthrough story

Turner prize winning artist Mark Leckey speaks about the unlikelihood of his career in the arts, having grown up in a working-class home in Ellesmere Port during a time when opportunities in the North West were in decline.

“I think now, coming from the background I did, trying to go to art school would seem a momentous task. And a huge financial undertaking.”

Young people with no connections to the arts frequently struggle to find any relevant advice on higher education in the arts and humanities - what funding is available, and what options there are. This inaccessibility is only being exacerbated by policy explicitly designed to make it difficult for low income students to take arts courses. We want to provide bespoke careers advice that will help over 1,300 young people navigate the extra barriers they’re facing. You can help us fund this by donating now. #HopeDefiantly - there should be no recession of the imagination.
