From a family with deep roots in nursing, including her mother and sister, Veronica M. always knew that nursing was her destiny.

After spending years at community college, Veronica faced a new challenge when she became a single mother. Balancing her family responsibilities with her educational aspirations seemed daunting. But Veronica’s resolve to build a brighter future for her daughter drove her forward.

Veronica chose ACC’s Vocational Nursing program, drawn by its stellar NCLEX scores and positive reviews. She knew this path would be demanding, but she remained committed to achieving her dream. Opting for the accelerated program pace, she immersed herself in a rigorous 13-month curriculum, all while caring for her family.

“Balancing my studies with motherhood was incredibly tough,” Veronica shared. “But seeing how far I’ve come today makes every sacrifice worth it.”

At ACC, Veronica found more than a quality nursing program; she discovered a vibrant, supportive community, including other mothers in similar situations.

“The instructors were amazing, and I built lifelong friendships with my classmates. We supported each other through study sessions and shared experiences. It was a true team effort,” she recalled.

During her vocational nurse pinning ceremony, the joy and pride were palpable. Her sister, an RN, had the honor of pinning her, marking a significant milestone. Veronica’s 8-year-old daughter was equally proud.

Veronica’s achievement was further recognized when she received a scholarship from the Time for Change Foundation, dedicated to supporting single mothers and women pursuing vocational training.

To others facing challenges, Veronica offered some advice: “If you have a goal and a dream, go for it. The sacrifices are worth it. Don’t let anyone tell you no — only you know what you’re capable of. Follow your heart and remember that there is support out there to help you along the way.”
