Large Lava Flow Today Took Out The Blue Lagoon Road Again - New Drone Footage

The lava flow today originated in a lava pond near the active crater and it took out the Blue lagoon road for the third time but I'm sure it's going to open up again soon. Other infrastructure such as the hot water pipelines are still safe and the lava is crawling forward very slowly right now so we don't expect it to reach them. It's therefore not unlikely the this might be the last serious chapter of eruption number 8. From now this will just fade out, but it's too early to celebrate though. I just came back from a little time off from all this, I still have lots of unpublished footage and want to do it justice when I get back to north Iceland in the next days where a new microphone awaits me.

The excavators were preventing the burning moss to lead to a problem like we had in 2023, it's very, very hard to extinguish moss fires when they get going since it grows go so deep down into the old lava.
