A simple test that helps to determine hair fall is the “Hair pull test”. This is performed by grabbing 20-40 hair strands about an inch above your scalp between the thumb and forefinger and pulling the hair hard enough, and then sliding your fingers gently along the hair shaft to the tip. We count the number of hair strands that fall out. Upto six strands are normal. Greater than six require medical attention.
