IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officers undergo rigorous training to prepare them for their roles in the civil services. Here's an overview of the training process:

Preliminary Examination: Before entering the training phase, aspiring IAS officers must pass the Civil Services Examination (CSE), which consists of a preliminary examination followed by a main examination and an interview.

Foundation Course: After successfully clearing the CSE, candidates undergo a foundation course at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie. This course lasts for about three months and aims to provide a broad understanding of various subjects, including history, political science, public administration, and economics.

District Training: Following the foundation course, IAS officers undergo district training. During this phase, they are posted as Assistant Collectors or Sub-Divisional Magistrates in districts across different states. Here, they gain hands-on experience in various administrative tasks, such as law and order management, revenue administration, development activities, and public grievance redressal.
