From April 6 to October 6, 1968, San Antonio welcomed more than 6 million visitors to HemisFair ’68, the year’s official World’s Fair exhibition. Bearing the theme “Confluence of Civilizations in the Americas,” the international exposition commemorated the 250th anniversary of the city’s founding. Attractions included exhibits, a monorail, a lagoon, and a variety of performances. Famous attendees included Bob Hope, Louis Armstrong, and Princess Grace of Monaco. This silent news footage for WOAI documents the crowd of fair visitors and employees, some in traditional national dress, approaching the fair entrance on opening day.
