Tommy Robinson protest erupts in London as thousands gather

Thousands of supporters of Tommy Robinson have gathered in central London for an anti-government rally. The far-right agitator was absent from the demonstration following his arrest on Friday.

About 250 people have been jailed in the wake of riots across the UK this summer. Robinson, 41, had urged his followers to take to the streets of Westminster in a “peaceful show of resistance” against Sir Keir Starmer’s “tyranny”, and was originally billed as the protest’s headline speaker.
