Donkey Bike (1966)

Описание к видео Donkey Bike (1966)

London.

A groovy girl in a polka dot trouser suit looks at bikes outside a bicycle shop; she attempts to get on a penny farthing bike, but can't quite make it; the male assistant (T Barrell) brings out a 'Donkey Bike' for her to try. It looks quite strange, with a large wheel at the back and a small one at the front; the handlebars curve round the back of the rider, so they sit up straight while riding.

The girl cycles through a park on the bike; cut to the girl getting on a double decker bus with the folded bicycle. Folk singer Pete Newby is seen taking his Donkey Bike out of the boot of his car; he fixes the handlebars to the front of the bike and rides off. He stops on a quiet road to put the handlebars on the back of the bike and rides along a busy street. In fast motion, we see Pete, the trouser suit girl and another man riding about a park on their Donkey Bikes.

Note: on file is a leaflet on the Donkey Bike - multiple use health mobile apparat [sic] - made in Germany. Cuts exist - see separate record.
