Computer Heat Sink Efficiency Demonstration

Video demonstrating just how effective Shuttle's ICE heat sinks really are. This computer was heading for the scrapper, so it was a good time to do an experiment.

I work in IT for a company that used to sell Shuttle computers, so I still do hardware support on some stragglers that have not been updated or replaced. I see a lot of Shuttle computers from the socket 478/LGA 775 era era come through here with expanded capacitors or otherwise failing motherboards (some of which we replace and put back into service), but the heat sink is one thing they really got right.

In further experimenting, the motherboard's thermal shutdown at 109 degrees Celsius powered off the computer before any damage occurred. The PC restarted immediately and showed good temps after the heat sink was set on the processor.
