Polymer Clay Fantasy Tree Tutorial

Follow along as I create a polymer clay fantasy tree!  First I built a trunk around sturdy, thick wire and cured it.  I made sure to embed wires coming out of the trunk, too, so I could build on to it.  Next I used white ultra light clay (so it wasn't too top-heavy) to create an armature for the greenery and cured it again.  Since the base shape of the tree was already baked, it was easy to then cover it with a sheet of dark green clay so I could begin coloring it. I wanted to use one of the skinner blends that I showed you yesterday, but the colors weren't quite subtle enough, so I mixed a blend with some of the dark green from the tree, and some mint green to lighten it all up.  I then achieved a more muted blend perfect for my project.  After spending time building shadows and highlights, a final bake completes this fantasy tree.
