On 30 December 2025, I captured one of the rarest astronomical events an ISS Moon Transit, where the International Space Station passed directly in front of the Moon in less than a second. I literally captured International Space Station transiting passing in front of the moon using my Celestron LCM telescope

To capture this, I travelled 30 km outside Jaipur city with my telescope and gear, because even a few hundred meters of error can mean missing the transit completely. This was not luck it required precise predictions, timing, and positioning.

What makes this transit even more special is its huge apparent size. The ISS had an angular size of ~56 arcseconds, making it larger than Jupiter in apparent diameter at the time of transit. Because of this close and favorable geometry, I was able to resolve fine structural details of the ISS including its solar panels and habitation modules in the final frames.

ISS Moon transits are extremely rare from any single location and last for only a fraction of a second. Blink and it’s gone. This video shows the full result, the final captures, and the insane precision required to pull off a shot like this.
