In This Lesson :
Database Design
Database definition:: -it is a group of organized data
related to certain topic.
1- school database ( student table , staff table , grade table …..etc )
2- hospital table (patient table, doctors table, room table …..etc)
Importance of database in our life :-
1- Digital keeping of students ‘records (name – birthdate –
address ...etc )
2- Digital storing of medical records in hospitals ( patient name
and address….etc)
3- Inventory tracking (product name – producers – customers –
price ..etc)
Advantages Of Database
1- user can store large amount of data
2- data can be organized , so that it can be retrieved and processed easily
3- the flexibility of data, so that it can be changed , deleted , added easily
4- the user can design forms , report , query …etc
5-user can search and query of data easily
Uses of databases
1-Electronic websites: - where the data of users and products can be stored
2-Data analysis: - where big data can be analyzed and knowledge can be
displayed
3-Scientific research: - where data can be experimented and analyzed

4-Commercial applications: - where database programs (DBMS) are applied
to manage customer relations
Big data :-
Big data refers to extremely large and diverse collections of structured,
Unstructured, and semi-structured data that continues to grow over time.
Data table :- it the basic object which used to create database
Example Employees Table
This Table Consists Of the Following Elements
A- Field (Column): - it is a place where data with the same kind can
be stored.
B- Record (Row) : - it is a place where related fields can be stored
C- Table: - it is a place where a set of data of a certain topic can be
stored
Examples: - student table – employee table …etc.

Programs used to create database
1-MS-word and MS-excel:-
These programs can create simple data table for student but it can’t process big data
And can’t be used to index, retrieve and query these data.
2-MS-access database :-
It is one of database management systems which is used to
1- Store big data
2- Process data
3- Manage data
4- Retrieve data
5- Secure data
6- Create tables, forms, query. Reports for your data
