This video will primarily be an overview of European Mediaeval slavery, covering both the philosophical and societal backgrounds which led to slavery, a timeline of slavery during the middle ages (how it evolved and fluctuated), but also the specifics: what slaves were used for, how they were acquired, who owned them, and how free or unfree they actually were. This is an enormous topic, so this is just going to be the first episode in a longer series, which will cover different regions and timeframes. But this is a good starting point.
