THE BEST BEACHES IN KOH PHI PHI, THAILAND

After waking up a bit too early on Koh Phi Phi, as all the shops were still closed, we explored the town a bit before eating an all you can eat breakfast buffet. We walked off the giant meal by trekking to Long Beach and Shark Point, though the water was too choppy to swim at the latter and we soon heard of a place on the northeast side of the island that was perfect for snorkeling, Phak Nam Bay. We headed back to the hostel to grab water before making our way up a hill, cutting across the island through forest and a small dirt path that took us past people's homes, goats, chickens and more. We arrived at Phak Nam Bay and were shocked at how easy it was to snorkel right off the shore, walking into the water and spending the rest of the evening watching fish and sea urchins. As the sun began to set, we decided to wait for a water taxi rather than trek back through the forest in the dark. We took a long boat back to Tonsia Pier, where we ate dinner from a small food stand on the pier, before watching a fire show at a beachside bar called Slinky.
