Tower Hill - London's BRUTAL Execution Site

Описание к видео Tower Hill - London's BRUTAL Execution Site

During the Tudor period and the Medieval times, the Tower of London gained a brutal reputation for cruelty, suffering and punishment. Much of this is due to the torture that occured at the Tower, however just outside the walls of the famous fortress, there was a site which was even more Bloody.

Tower Hill which is a short walk from the Tower of London was where hundreds of victims and prisoners would be executed during the Tudor period. Most of the condemned here were beheaded, but other types of execution did occur here. Some of the most famous victims of King Henry VIII met their end here such as Sir Thomas More, or Bishop John Fisher. Thomas Cromwell would also be executed here, one of Henry's closest friends and advisors.

There was a scaffold at Tower Hill for these events and the executions that took place here were public spectacles, and the intention of these events was to put the public off dissenting. Often the heads of the victims were then impaled on spikes over London Bridge to continue this deterrence. So join us today as we look at Tower Hill, London's BRUTAL Execution Site.
