Memory Tiering: Power Your Server Infrastructure with Memory Innovations [VCFB1198LV]

VMware by Broadcom is looking closely at customer pain points such as higher costs, underutilized CPUs, and unbalanced memory-CPU ratios. We are working on memory tiering to mitigate these pain points and using its expertise in memory management with prior technologies like VMware vSphere vMotion. We have introduced memory tiering as a tech preview.

In this session, we discuss the customer value proposition, introduce NVMe-based memory tiering and present a performance deep-dive on a variety of workloads (loss of 4 percent, TCO savings up to 45 percent), such as databases and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), including how it will help address the customer pain points. We also have a customer (SS&C) present benefits of memory tiering in their environment.

Finally, we will introduce the future direction of memory technologies at VMware, and accelerator-based memory solutions.
