BMW 5 series 2007-2010 Transmission Malfunction Issue

Since I made this video, I have received a lot of inquiries about how did the issue got resolved. The mechanic first drained the transmission fluid (he saved it and put it back), took the lid of the transmission, changed a plastic piece that locks the gears in place, put the lid back on the transmission, filled the transmission with oil again (same oil that was drained) and the car worked like new. Never again had a problem with it. The job took 45 minutes to be done, 1 mechanic worked on it. I saw everything that was done. It cost me a total of $800, the piece cost $14.85. I paid that much gladly because the dealer wanted to change my transmission entirely.


Update:

The name of the piece for this issue is a BMW Mechatronic Adapter.

I had a worse problem with another BMW 750LI 2012, the transmission was not shifting and then died. These are the parts I bought (I have no affiliation with this company)
