I am incredibly honored that Sara Easterly, a fellow adoptee, shared her story with me. She is a phenomenal writer and has written a spiritual memoir, Searching for Mom and co-authored Adoption Unfiltered. Her vulnerability and honesty sheds an enormous light on adoption not only on a personal level, but also adoption as a whole. The invaluable insight she imparts is something all prospective adoptive parents and those looking to place need to not just hear, but also to understand. As an adoptee, as a new mom, I truly needed to hear her story again about becoming a mother, and how adoption has had a deep impact on her life, that continues through out her life, in unexpected ways.

I truly hope you'll bear witness to her story. I admire her so much, and all the work she has done for the adoptee community. She brings awareness about suicide in adoption, with her own personal story, people pleasing, the complexities of her birth family search and reunion, the loss of an adoptive parent, and how there is healing in finding those who innately know what you are going through, because they too are adopted.

When adoptees find their voice, there is so much discovery, healing and power in their story. I hope for every adoptee to find their own voice.
