Before Mary.
Before any saint or goddess of compassion — there was Auset, Queen of Kemet, the first single mother in mythological history.
When her husband Ausar was murdered by his jealous brother Set, Auset didn’t collapse — she created life from death. Through sacred magic, she resurrected Ausar long enough to conceive Heru, the child destined to avenge his father and restore cosmic order.
But when Ausar descended to the underworld, Auset was left to face chaos alone — hunted by Set, the living principle of destruction. She hid among the papyrus marshes, nursing her divine son while the storm tried to erase her bloodline.
Yet she wasn’t entirely alone: her sister Nephthys, the loyal protector; Hathor, goddess of love who healed her grief; and Djehuty (Thoth), god of wisdom and mentor to young Heru, all helped her forge the first divine family.
Auset’s story is more than ancient mythology — it’s a reflection of every woman who’s ever had to fight alone, raise greatness, and build kingdoms out of devotion, intelligence, and resilience.
She didn’t raise a man.
She raised a god.
