On Thursday, October 2, we welcome Linda Weintraub to “Meet the Artist” night at CPW. Weintraub will present, in story form, formative experiences that do not appear on her professional resume. She will narrate life experiences that influenced the writing of such unprecedented books as WHAT's NEXT? Eco Materialism & Contemporary Art, To LIFE! Eco Art in Pursuit of a Sustainable Planet, AVANT-GUARDIANS: Textlets in Art & Ecology; IN THE MAKING: Creative Options for Contemporary Artists, and ART ON THE EDGE AND OVER: Searching for Art's Meaning in Contemporary Society, and especially her forthcoming book titled WHO DO YOU EAT?. Weintraub will also share vivid memories of serving as director at the Edith C. Blum Art Institute Bard College, and the Henry Luce Professor of Emerging Arts at Oberlin College. She will link managing a permaculture homestead in Rhinebeck to such curatorial projects as COMPOSED to DECOMPOSE, and such exhibitions of her own art as WELCOME TO MY WOODS. This event will be live-streamed on CPW’s YouTube page at 6pm.

Linda's upcoming FEAST event at CPW, titled Foto Fungal Futurism, envisions a new photographic movement distinguished by the regenerative and cooperative behaviors of fungi. This revolutionary update of traditional picture-making techniques and philosophies will be explored by invited participants and guests.

Join us every Thursday evening at CPW, when we host illuminating talks with local and visiting artists. “Meet the Artist” allows the public to get to know new work, to hear about artistic processes, and to meet friends and other local artists. The evening takes place at CPW’s gallery at 25 Dederick Street in Kingston, NY. It is free and open to the public. Coffee, tea, and snacks are served. “Meet the Artist” is made possible by a generous grant from the Arnold and Augusta Newman Foundation.

Linda Weintraub is a curator, educator, artist, and author exploring vanguard environmental art. Weintraub's books include WHAT's NEXT? Eco Materialism & Contemporary Art, To LIFE! Eco Art in Pursuit of a Sustainable Planet, AVANT-GUARDIANS: Textlets in Art & Ecology; IN THE MAKING: Creative Options for Contemporary Artists, and ART ON THE EDGE AND OVER: Searching for Art's Meaning in Contemporary Society. Weintraub was director at the Edith C. Blum Art Institute Bard College. Recent curatorial projects include COMPOSED to DECOMPOSE and WELCOME TO MY WOODS. Weintraub was the Henry Luce Professor of Emerging Arts at Oberlin College and visiting artist in the Nomad9 MFA program at the University of Hartford. Her forthcoming book is titled WHO DO YOU EAT?. She manages a sustainable homestead where she practices permaculture.
