We've gotten an overwhelming number of requests to shoot a video comparing the Archer Ikon with an actual gold Klon Centaur. Your requests have not fallen on deaf ears, and today, we are comparing the J Rockett Archer Ikon and the Gold Klon Centaur we originally used as a reference point. The trick to doing a Klon shootout is to isolate each pedal in its own true bypass loop. Klon-type pedals typically employ an always-on buffer, so the second Klon pedal in any given chain will be buffered twice, making it sound different. In this video, we’ve employed the use of two Heavy Electronics Rodeo Loops, for true isolation when bypassed. Due to potentiometer tolerances, the knobs aren’t set exactly the same; they’re closely adjusted to reflect similarities in sound.
