Nagabhairava Jaya Prakash Narayana (born 14 January 1956), is an Indian politician. A former physician, J.P. is a political reformer and columnist. He is the founder and the President of Lok Satta Party, and was an Ex-Member of the Legislative Assembly from Kukatpally constituency Andhra Pradesh in India.In May 2014, he contested from Malkajgiri as a Member of Parliament and lost.
Narayan is the founder of Lok Satta Party, and is also the founder and General Secretary of Foundation for Democratic Reforms, an independent public-policy think-tank and research-resource centre. A giant in policy and reform, Dr. JP has been instrumental in driving three constitutional amendments and over 15 landmark legislative acts. The constitutional amendments he worked on include 1. Creation of National Judicial Appointments Commission to bring transparency to judicial appointments, and 2. Limiting the size of council of ministers to eliminate ‘jumbo cabinets’
His more recent legislative contributions are for – 1. AP reorganization Act 2. Lokpal Act 3. Right to Information Act and 4. Disclosure of candidate wealth and criminal details In addition, he has helped in landmark governance actions including 1. Establishment of a National Rural Health Mission 2. Cancellation of 122 2-G spectrum licenses, and creating a policy to allocate natural resources through competitive bidding and 3. Blocking the provisions to ban field trials of GM crops in India to ensure food and nutritional security for Indians, and economic gains for farmers

A former Indian public administrator, well known for his role in electoral reforms and the Right to Information (RTI) act. He has also written columns in Indian newspapers, such as Times of India, The Economic Times, Financial Express, The Hindu and Eenadu, and hosted television shows covering elections and politics such as "Pratidhwani".
