In this episode of our DIY ambulance conversion series, we tackle the step of curing the paint on The Cub woodstove from Cubic Mini Wood Stove (Canada) as recommended by the manufacturer.

Over three days, we run the stove hot for 4-5 hours each day, witnessing the fumes gradually dissipate after the second day. We were happy to have decided to cure the paint outside, as the fumes and smell were quite bad.

For this tiny wood stove (11" W x 12" H x 10.5" D) (27.94 cm x 30.48 cm x 26.67 cm), we used hardwood cut to the ideal 5 3/4" (14.60 cm) length for optimal airflow and insulation protection. Every 20-30 minutes (depending on how hot we run the fire), we had to reload the stove with wood.

On the second day, we tested our cute enamel coffee pot, successfully obtaining hot water for 3 cups in about 40 minutes!

We plan on using the woodstove as a secondary heating source, as a backup plan, and for ambiance in our 96 sqf camper. Although the indoor installation is a few months away, we're eagerly anticipating reaching this significant stage in our camper transformation journey. Stay tuned!
