Prominent hunting official caught poaching: A team from the Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS) has filmed a high-ranking board member David Briffa of the Maltese hunters' association FKNK illegally catching finches in Malta. The police managed to catch the man in the act. 14 live decoy birds and all the trapping equipment were confiscated. The case once again shows the deep-rooted hypocrisy of the FKNK, whose officials never tire of minimising the extent of poaching in Malta. At the same time, it is further proof that Malta's alleged ‘research project’ on finch trapping is nothing more than a big lie - it is not about science, but solely about feathered supplies for their aviaries and the black market.
