大学卒業後にアルトサックスを手にし、数年後にプロとして北海道札幌市を拠点に演奏活動を始める。その後2008 年に渡米しニューヨークにて盛んに活動、特に男性ボーカリスト、グレゴリー・ポーターの5人編成バンドにおいて唯一の管楽器奏者として在籍し、彼の4枚 のアルバムに参加。2011年度から2016年度までの間にグラミー賞を2度受賞、ノミネートを4度果たした。これまでにモントリオール・フェスティバ ル、プレイボーイ・ジャズ・フェスティバル、モントゥルー・ジャズ・フェスティバ ル、モントレー・ジャズ・フェスティバルなど、数百にも上る世界各国のジャズ・フェスティバル等に参加、サックス奏者として世界的に非常に高い評価を得 た。その後2015年末に同バンドを離れ、自己の音楽を追求すべく米国から日本の千葉県佐倉市に拠点を移し現在に至る。日本国内での音楽活動および海外でのジャズフェスティバルやレコーディングなどにも積極的に参加している。サックス・フルート・クラリネット プレーヤー、シンガー、作曲家、アレンジャー、教育者。

東京都出身。高校時代よりジャズ・ギターを演奏しはじめ、大学時代よりトランペットに転向、演奏活動を行う。大学卒業後にアルトサックスを手にし、数年後に プロとして北海道札幌市を拠点に 演奏活動を始める。その後2008年に渡米しニューヨークにて活動を開始、まもなくメルヴィン・ヴァインズ（トランペット）に認められ彼のバンド、“ハー レム・ ジャズ・マシーン”のレギュラーサックス奏者として活躍、ニューヨークで最も歴史あるジャズクラブ、セントニクスパブにてクラブが幕を閉じるまでの3年 間、毎週演奏した。そしてメルヴィンを通じ知り合った男性ボー カリスト、グレゴリー・ポーターのCD“ウォーター”に参加、当アルバムは2011年度のグラミー賞「ベスト・ジャズ・ボーカル・アルバム・オブ・ザ・イ ヤー」にノミネートされる。ちょうどその頃同バンド、グレゴリー・ポーター・クインテット(グレゴリー・ポーター(ボーカル)、チップ・クロ フォード(ピアノ)、アーロン・ジェームズ(ベース)、エマニュエル・ハロルド(ドラムス)、ヨウスケ・サトウ(サックス))はマンハッタンの人気ジャズ クラブ、スモークに毎週出演し始め、彼らの出演する木曜日は毎週ソールド・アウト、それは彼らがワールドツアーを始めるまでの間1年半以上続いた。続く2 作目のCD“ビー・グッド”も2013年度のグラミー1部門にノミネート、そして3作目の“リキッド・スピリット”は2014年度グラミー賞の「ベスト・ ジャズ・ボーカル・アルバム・オブ・ザ・イヤー」を受賞した。またバンドを離れたのちの受賞となったが脱退直前に参加したグレゴリー・ポーターのアルバム“テイク・ミー・トゥ・ジ・アレイ”が2016年度のグラミー賞同賞を受賞し、２度目の受賞となった。サトウはいずれのアルバムにおいてもリードアルトサックスを担 当、世界各国のジャズ・フェスティバル等に参加するなど精力的にツアーする同バンドのメイン・サックス奏者として高い評価を得た。参加したジャズ・フェス ティバルはモントリオール・フェスティバル、プレイボーイ・ジャズ・フェスティバル、モントゥルー・ジャズ・フェスティバ ル、モントレー・ジャズ・フェスティバル、ジャズ・エン・ヴィエナ、ニューヨーク・ジャズ・フェスティバル、シカゴ・ジャズ・フェスティバル、トゥールー ズ・ジャズ・フェスティバル、パリ・ジャズ・フェスティバルなど多数。その後2015年末に同バンドを離れ日本の千葉県佐倉市に拠点を移し自らの音楽を追 求している。サックス・フルート・クラリネットプレーヤー、シンガー、作曲家、アレンジャー、教育者。
Yosuke Sato(a.k.a. Yohsuke Satoh)
Born in Tokyo, Japan. Began to play jazz guitar at high school age and changed his main instrument into trumpet at university. After graduation he began to play alto saxophone and several years later started to perform as a proffesional musician based in Sapporo, hokkaido, Japan. Moved to NY, USA in 2008, and soon after he was admited his skill by trumpetter Melvin Vines and joind his band "Harlem Jazz Machine" as a regular saxophonist. The band had been playing at famous St. Nics Pub, that used to be the most historical jazz club in NY City for 3years until the place was closed. Introduced by Melvin, he got a chance to attend male vocalist Gregory Porter's first official CD "Water" which was nominated for the Grammy award of 2011 as "Best Jazz Bocal Album of the Year". Gregory Porter Quatet(Gregory Porter(vocal), Chip Crawford(piano), Aaron James(bass), Emanuel Harrold(drums), and Yosuke Sato(sax)) started perfoming every week at jazz club Smoke, one of the most popular jazz club on Manhattan. Every Thursday there they had been having sold-out shows for more than 1 and a half year until they started world tour. Gregory's second CD "Be Good" was nominared for a Grammy again, and his third CD "Liquid Spirit" won "The Best Jazz Vocal Album of the year" of 2014. After Sato left the band, Gregory's 4th album "Take me to the Alley" in which Sato also played won the Grammy's same category in 2016, which gave Sato another Grammy award. Sato attended all of these albums, as the lead alto saxophone player and had been touring with the quintet that is participating so many Jazz Festivals held all over the world, getting great repetition. Attended Montreal Jazz Festival, Playboy Jazz Festival, Montreax Jazz Festival, Montrey Jazz Festival, Jazz en Vienna, New York Jazz Festival, Chicago Jazz Festival, Toulose Jazz Festival,aris Jazz Festival and so on until he left the band to focus on his own music project on the end of 2015. He moved back to Japan and now is basing there, developing his music. Saxophonist, Flutist, Clarinettist, Singer, Composer, Arranger, Educater.
