Korea's opposition bloc is proposing talks with Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn,... who is now acting president following parliament's impeachment of President Park.
The conservative ruling party, meanwhile, is on the verge of splitting... and has scheduled a vote for this Friday to elect a new floor leader.

Korea's three opposition parties,... the Democratic Party of Korea, the People's Party and the Justice Party,... have agreed to suggest talks with Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn who assumed the role of acting president,... mainly over issues regarding the management of state affairs,... to prevent any power vacuum.
This agreement comes after a tripartite meeting held on Tuesday afternoon at the parliament.
The opposition parties also agreed to pressure Acting President Hwang to strive to get the truth about the Choi Soon-sil case,... and push forward any necessary reforms in state affairs.

In addition, the opposition lawmakers said they wish to discuss Hwang's powers as acting president.


"The impeachment is not the end but the start. We share the wish of the public that the Constitutional Court's decisions are made as soon as possible."


"We will keep a close watch on Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn. As the actual president is not available due to the impeachment vote,... the acting president's decisions on policies and state affairs should come out of close discussions with the parliament."


"I believe it's very important that the three opposition parties put specific guidelines on acting president Hwang's power and authority."

Meanwhile,.. the ruling Saenuri will elect a new floor leader on Friday,... after the previous floor leader, Chung Jin-suk, resigned on Monday to take responsibility for the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye.
But the division within the party still runs very deep.
Kim Moo-sung,.. former party chief,.. and also a leader of the non-pro-President Park faction, harshly criticized the current party leadership,.. which mostly objected to Park's impeachment.


"I think we need to get rid of the pseudo-conservative lawmakers, who are dominating the Saenuri Party now,... and reinstate real conservative politicians to rebuild the party."

Regarding Kim's criticisms,... the pro-president Park faction didn't release any official response.


"Now whether the ruling Saenuri Party will remain united or split seems to depend on who becomes the new floor leader after Friday's election.
