Swept into the ocean... (Santa Cruz Wharf collapse // Dec. 23, 2024)

Описание к видео Swept into the ocean... (Santa Cruz Wharf collapse // Dec. 23, 2024)

Surfer Antonio Ramirez headed down towards Cowell's Beach to do some reporting on the Santa Cruz Wharf collapse on the afternoon of Dec. 23.

He bumped into Joe Schwappach, a worker at the The Picnic Basket, who described seeing the first responders as they rushed past the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk after 3 construction workers fell into the ocean with the pier.

During a press conference, the Santa Cruz mayor and other local officials described what happened and say it's connected to climate change ramping up.

Later, Antonio managed to gather footage of some 20+-foot waves breaking way out in the distance at Steamer Lane. (Surfline.com was predicting waves as large as 4.5-6.1 meters.)

Thanks for Antonio for the videography.
