In the early eighties, I played guitar in the german rock band "Scotland". Heralding from Rüsselsheim/Raunheim we played almost all our gigs in the Rhine-Main area. But there were exceptions. In September 1983, we traveled to a musicians' gathering in Gaimersheim near Ingolstadt. There, I met some local rock fans. They told me about a fantastic rock band from Ingolstadt called "Cacumen." I listened to a few songs and was immediately impressed.

Two years later, "Cacumen" changed their name to "Bonfire," and I've followed the band ever since - on and off. Albums like "Fireworks" have garnered international acclaim. For 40 years, for me Claus Lessmann's unique voice has been on par with Klaus Meine (Scorpions), Klaus Luley (Craaft/Tokyo/Schloss) and Udo Dirkschneider (Accept).

In 1988, I saw Bonfire live for the first time – as the opening act for Judas Priest. In my opinion, Bonfire is one of the best German live bands - until today! They always give 100 %!


Bonfire have released many top-notch albums. I still listen to the following outputs regularly:

Strike Ten: Ziller and Lessmann created a killer album here, one you'll want to listen to again and again.

Fireworks Still Alive: Bonfire have released numerous excellent live albums. I especially love this one. With a powerful production, the entire Fireworks album is celebrated live. Amazing!

Fireworks MMXXlll: A metallic re-recording of the classic with Greek singer Dyan Mair. Superb!

Phantom 5 - same: For me, one of the best melodic hard rock albums of recent years. Michael Voss and Claus Lessmann produced true rock anthems that can compete with Bonfire's hits. There isn't a weak track; every song is a bullseye.

Hans Ziller - Rock 'n' Roll Survivor: I'm really not much of a reader, but rarely has a book captivated me and held me spellbound until the very end. Ziller recounts his life – honestly and authentically, with all its highs and lows. The music business can be as hard as a stone! Highly recommended!
