Hi, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we're gonna take a super quick look at how the Rhino-Rack J fixed style kayak carrier fits on our 2015 Kia Sorento. So, we are gonna do a quick show of how it works with the vehicle. If you wanna take a look at more of the details like the features and things, you can check out our full review. Right off the bat, we don't have this tightened down just yet because I wanna show you how we have this nice, secure base here on the Sorento.

We do have the Inno Aero bars, so it was kind of tricky to tighten it down but there was plenty of space here on the roof. Now, one thing with this fixed kayak carrier is it clamps around the crossbars. So, you can either put it all the way back here or further out onto the overhang. If you have more than three inches of overhang, which is what I have here, you might have better luck with that. Otherwise, I recommend going in on the inside.

You have these great cam buckle straps. They have buckle protectors on them. That way, you can run them around your raised rails, through the kayak carrier and then strap it down. You also have some bow and stern straps included, so you can see them at the end of my kayak. Right now, I don't have them tightened down.

We can see how quick and easy it would be to tighten down for your Sorento before you go for a ride. If you look behind the kayak carrier, you'll see how high our J-style carrier sits. This is a fixed style kayak carrier though, so it's not gonna fold down once you have your kayak off. So, if that's gonna be a major issue for you, definitely something to take a look at. You may want our etrailer folding style kayak carrier instead.

But this is going to be a very easy way to carry around your kayaks without taking up too much room. You saw how much more space we had on the crossbars on our Sorento. That way, we can carry around another kayak or even a small roof basket. Some other things I do recommend adding on is I use the Moki Door Step. This clips right into the Sorento, gives me that extra height. Since with this being fixed and not a load assist kayak carrier, you are gonna have to lift your kayak pretty high up to get into your carrier. So, other than that, it's still a solid choice. Don't have those extra premium features but then you also don't have the premium price. A great entry-level kayak carrier for if you just wanna get onto the road and get to the water real quick. This was a look at the Rhino-Rack J-style fixed kayak carrier on our 2015 Kia Sorento..
