I recently decided to find an alternative to my full sized multi-tool that I always take with me on hiking and backpacking trips. My original multi-tool weighed in at 9 ounces with a overall length of 4 inches by 3/4" thick. I'm all for extra weight under the right circumstances, but the problem is, I never used it. Now, just because you "never use" something, that doesn't mean you should ditch it for good. Hence First Aide and handguns.

But a downsize was in order. So I started to research some ultralight or at least reduced weight multi-tool options. Enter the Leatherman Squirt PS4. This is a super small multi-tool that falls in a size below the popular Leatherman Juice.

My main reason for buying this tool was as a light weight emergency tool kit for use while backpacking and hiking on long distance / remote camping trips. However, due to it's small form factor and awesome quality, this multi-tool has become a part of my Every Day Carry (EDC) system as well. I have an office job and find this tool to be an excellent option for discreet carry while wearing my of-so-fun business casual attire. I simply attach a mini Caribiner through the key-chain loop and use that to hang it from the inside of my back button pocket. This leaves it well concealed and unnoticeable.

The price was under $25 as of Mid 2012, which ranks as very affordable in my book. (Saying a lot, since I'm a total cheap o)

**The version seen in this video is the PS4. There is also a model called the ES4, which is geared towards electricians, that replaces the main pliers with a multi-size wire stripper.
