This video was taken from on board my IAME X30 kart during a heat of a club day at the Newcastle track in Australia from early 2013.Lined up against a Rotax racer, you get to see the difference in power curve. I have had similar results against other Rotax's but this doesn't simply mean the X30 wins in all situations. I think I hit the power a fraction earlier in the X30 which probably gave me a slight edge in the long run here.

In no way is this a pure reflection of the performance difference between a Rotax FR125 and a Parilla IAME X30. Neither engine was fresh for rebuild or new. I have simply posted this video to dispel a myth. Some people think that Rotax engines have good top end power and that X30 style engines have good bottom end power. When watching this video, please keep in mind that we don't know what the difference in gearing, pipe length, power valve settings, carburation etc. I would be very interested to see a similar line up between 2 karts with brand new engines.
