Ultrasonic interferometer-determination of velocity of sound and compressibility of liquids

Описание к видео Ultrasonic interferometer-determination of velocity of sound and compressibility of liquids

The ultrasonic waves are produced by the quartz crystal in the liquid medium using high frequency generator and they are reflected by a movable reflector. If the separation between the reflector and the quartz crystal is exactly a whole multiple of the sound wavelength, standing waves are formed in the medium and this medium act as an acoustical grating element. This acoustic resonance gives rise to an electrical reaction on the generator driving the quartz crystal and the anode current of the generator becomes more. By measuring the distance moved by the reflector using the micrometer scale for successive oscillations in the micro ammeter, the velocity of the ultrasonic waves can be determined.
