Описание к видео Horizon Forbidden West - Ultra Hard (New Game) - Rollerback Salvage (Shellsnapper)

Before doing this quest I recommend doing the very first part of The Broken Sky. It's nothing but dialogue to set up the rest of the questline, and will reward you with the Cleaving Sharpshot Bow. This can be very handy for getting the Shellsnapper's attention back when he's gone out of range. This will also set you up with two good weapons to carry you through the midgame.

When I did my previous video series, I skipped making a video of this particular fight because, as you can see, it's incredibly annoying, takes an incredibly long time, and doesn't make for a very good video. However one of my viewers pointed out that this quest is what gives you the Sunshot Hunter Bow, which in my opinion is one of the best/most important Bows in the game. It carried my Ultra Hard run all the way up to the final boss (alongside a few Sharpshot Bows). My first time through the game I didn't realize how significant this reward was, so I didn't realize what a big oversight the lack of this battle was.

The reason the Sunshot Hunter Bow is so good is because you can unlock it early, it has Advanced Hunter Arrows and is second strongest among Very Rares. The Marshal Hunter Bow is stronger, but it's locked behind opening The Arena and getting 84 Hunting Medals. Even more importantly, the Sunshot Hunter Bow is a Greenshine weapon, meaning it's incredibly easy to get the game to guide you around to collecting all of the resources needed to get it upgraded to max level very early, and it won't compete with your other weapons. You should immediately be able to get it to level 2 which will make it your strongest Hunter Bow (assuming you're getting it as early as I do here), but you might have to wait a while before some accessible Greenshine Clusters and Slabs become available. Another advantage the Sunshot Hunter Bow has over the Marshal Hunter Bow is a +25% (and eventually +40%) Draw Speed perk. Since on Ultra Hard my primary goal for my Hunter Bow is to apply status effects with your Instant Coils while doling out damage, this Draw Speed perk is a huge advantage. If you're looking for one Hunter Bow to carry you through Ultra Hard make no mistake, this is the one.

For the battle itself, as I said it's an annoying affair. The key to make it even remotely manageable is to prioritize removing the two Shell Bolts on the front of the shell right at the beginning of the fight. This will also remove the two front-facing rocket launchers, and it will mean that whenever the Shellsnapper is walking at you, it can't fire rockets. All of its other attacks are slower and better telegraphed, giving your defense a fighting chance. Just be extra wary whenever he turns his back to you, and immediately rush for cover. I use Part Breaker and Triple Notch to help me tear these off quickly, with a level 3 Slicing Hunter Bow, which is a pretty easy weapon to obtain at this stage in the game. You should be able to buy the resources you need to make it level 4 from Runda if you're so inclined, but personally I didn't want to waste them for a Bow I'm about to replace forever.

Also notice my use of the trees throughout the fight to catch his ice blasts. The position behind the rock I take up at 2:40 is the safest location to conduct the battle from, although it will be annoying because the Shellsnapper will often burrow underground, run from you, retreat across the entire battlefield, etc. This rock formation also give you access to the trees on the right for a quick place to hide from the ice blasts.

Note I'm also using the Instant Corroding +4% Coil, which you must have gotten from Runda in order to reach the quest, so it's a guaranteed piece of gear you'll have access to.

Other than that, it's just a matter of patience and healing. I should have filled my Medicine Pouch and brought along more larger Health Potions, but I think this video at least proves this battle is possible under extremely early game circumstances. Since this is a re-record as part of my second run, I've done virtually no side content at this point and your Aloy should be at least the same level mine is here whenever you attempt this fight.
