This is a thumbnail video of the Country Fire Authority's key public messaging almost two decades ago, before the deadly firestorms of 7 February 2009 killed 173 people. Most died in or very close to their homes. The video exhorts people to manage their risk by preparation, but downplays the consideration of extreme or catastrophic weather conditions that could/would/should make the risk unacceptable to any reasonable, prudent, physically very fit, psychologically resilient adult in, say, the 18 to 60 years age bracket.

Final recommendations of the 2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission led to considerable improvement of risk management, including a much greater emphasis on prudent action to leave or to have clear "Plan B options" that ensured human survival even if the Plan A to save the house failed.
