Kenworth C540, abandoned since 1991, CAT 3408 V8. Ugly and rusty!

This is the first video on my Kenworth C540 project, it's a CAT 3408 powered beast and basically a W900 on steroids!

Apologies for low audio levels - I hadn't realised. Will use a different camera for the next update or at least the parts I haven't filmed yet!


Not content with just one big rig I did a deal on this old beast, it started life as a heavy haul tractor in 1981 (Kansas built) and was purchased by Zahid Heanor for use in Saudi Arabia before being exported to the U.K.

Once in the U.K. it was turned into the biggest concrete guillotine in existence, the hammer bit/slab itself weighs in at 15 tons and will crack 4m thick reinforced concrete. It has broken up sections or roadway all round the U.K. and Europe like the M5 and A40, as well as airports like Heathrow, Dresden and Lutterworth

However since around 92 it has lain abandoned and unloved, rusting away in a small garage forecourt about 20 miles from me. This video series will document bringing it back to life
